SB 101 Passes The House of Representatives!
Great News! There has been another victory for religious freedom at the Indiana General Assembly! On Monday, March 23rd Senate Bill 101, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, passed the Indiana House of Representatives by a vote of 63 to 31! This is a victory for churches, families and religious freedom in Indiana! SB 101 now returns to the Senate because it was amended in the House. If the Senate agrees with the change in the House it will then go to Governor Pence for his signature.
Senate Bill 101 is the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Senator Dennis Kruse, Senator Scott Schneider and Senator Brent Steele along with 10 other State Senators authored SB 101.
Representatives Tim Wesco, Jud McMillin, Don Lehe and Milo Smith are the sponsors of SB 101 in the House of Representatives.
SB 101 will help protect religious freedom in Indiana by providing protection for individuals with sincerely held religious beliefs, along with Christian businesses and churches.
SB 101 will help protect individuals, Christian businesses and churches from those supporting homosexual marriages and those supporting government recognition and approval of gender identity (male cross-dressers).
Here are just 3 examples:
- Christian bakers, florists and photographers should not be punished for refusing to participate in a homosexual marriage!
- A Christian business should not be punished for refusing to allow a man to use the women’s restroom!
- A church should not be punished because they refuse to let the church be used for a homosexual wedding!
