It appears that there will be an effort to tax non-profits in the 2008 session of the General Assembly. Whenever the legislature deals with the issue of non-profit organizations they are not only dealing with schools and charitable entities like the Children’s Museum, but they are also dealing with churches. Advance America does not believe that churches should be taxed in the State of Indiana. This issue has been debated and won in previous years. Will Rogers once said, everyday that Congress is in session freedom is in danger. Everyday the legislature meets, the threat of churches being controlled and regulated and taxed is very much an issue of concern to those of us who do not want to see churches taxed. If you have an opinion on whether or not churches should be taxed then contact your Senator and Representative ahead of the start of the Indiana General Assembly. Always remember this is your government!
