**Victory in Special Session!**

Advance America is a leading supporter at the State House for excellence in education. Advance America is the number one defender for maintaining the current freedom parents have to choose a public, private, Christian, charter or home school setting for their child.  Additionally Advance America has been a leading proponent of creating a mechanism to assist parents to be able to choose the best educational setting for their child.

During the 2009 General Assembly Advance America supported the efforts of State Senator Carlin Yoder to create scholarship granting organizations (SGO’s) that individuals and businesses could contribute to.  A tax credit would be available for their contributions.  These SGO’s could then in turn provide scholarships to parents to help empower them to choose the best school for their child.

Your Efforts Paid Off!
Thank you for contacting your State Senator and State Representative on this important issue!  Working together – our efforts paid off!  The new budget has $2.5 million in each of the next two years that will be available as a tax credit for those who contribute to an SGO! 

Senator Carlin Yoder Led the Way!
This is the first step in helping make sure that every child receives a first class, world class education.  Senator Carlin Yoder deserves a tremendous thanks from all of the citizens of Indiana for his hard work.  You can email him at s12@in.gov.

The Friedman Foundation and School Choice Indiana were also very helpful in the passage of this new educational initiative.  This was a victory for the families and children of Indiana!
