Indiana has the opportunity to pass major pro-life legislation in 2011! Here are 3 bills that will be up for a vote this week in the Legislature!
Bill #1 – Defunding Abortion Providers!
Representative Matt Ubelhor has introduced House Bill 1205. Co-authors are Representatives Ron Bacon, Jud McMillin and Bob Morris. HB 1205 would prohibit “state agencies from entering contracts or making grants to any entity that performs abortions or maintains or operates a facility where abortions are performed.” Taxpayer dollars should not be given to any organization involved with abortion!
The bill is awaiting action in the House.
Action: Please call or email your Representative with the following message: “Please vote YES on House Bill 1205 so taxpayer money will not go to organizations that perform abortions.”
Bill #2 – Informed Consent for Abortion!
House Bill 1210 is authored by Representatives Eric Turner, Dave Cheatham, Wes Culver and over 45 other Representatives. HB 1210 would revise Indiana’s informed consent for abortion law to require women seeking an abortion to be given information – in writing – about the medical risks of abortion, development of their unborn baby and information about adoption. They would also be told life begins at conception and that the unborn baby may feel pain when the abortion occurs.
The bill is awaiting action in the House.

“Please vote YES on House Bill 1210 to give women seeking an abortion important information about her unborn baby and that life begins at conception.”
Bill #3 – Informed Consent For Abortion!
Senate Bill 328 is authored by Senator Patricia Miller along with Senators Dennis Kruse and Jim Banks. It is similar to House Bill 1210 above. SB 328 would also amend Indiana’s informed consent for abortion law to require, among other things that the woman be told that life begins at conception and that the unborn baby may feel pain when the abortion occurs. This information would be given in writing at least 18 hours before the abortion could occur.
The bill is awaiting action in the Senate.
