**Senator Schneider Calls for More Public Input!**

Should the State of Indiana implement National Education Standards that have been endorsed by the Obama Administration that would impact hundreds of thousands of Hoosier children?  Is this a loss of control over education for Indiana?

Senator Scott Schneider has serious reservations about Common Core and has introduced Senate Bill 193.  Under the provisions of SB 193:

  1. Nine hearings would be held around the State on Common Core – one in each Congressional District – to give the public the opportunity to offer input on Common Core.
  1. The Office of Management and Budget will conduct a fiscal review of the projected cost to the state and local school corporations to implement Common Core.
  1. The State Board of Education after the nine hearings are held and after the fiscal analysis is done, will vote on whether or not to continue to implement Common Core.

The proposal by Senator Schneider is a reasonable one.  It is wise to give the public the opportunity to weigh in on such an important topic as the education of hundreds of thousands of Hoosier students; and it is wise to have a fiscal analysis done to know what Common Core will cost the taxpayers and public schools.

**Immediate Action Required!**

Call or email your State Senator immediately and ask them to “vote yes on Senate Bill 193 to permit public input and a fiscal analysis of Common Core.”
