Senator David Long is to be commended for his comments concerning how any decision involving reshaping local government should take place.

 

He states that “one size does not fit all.”

 

We agree with Senator Long that giving the voters in each of Indiana’s 92 counties the opportunity to decide how they want local government to function is the right position.

 

In a recent article Senator Long pointed out “It’s important that we give local governments and counties in particular, the option to enact or not enact certain proposals.”  We believe that when this is coupled with the opportunity for voters to have the final decision, you have a winning formula.

 

We commend Senator Long for his support for the citizens of each county to be able to make the decision that they think is best for themselves, their family and their future with regard to local government reform.
