**Senator DeMint Asks for Help to Stop Hate Crimes Legislation!**
Senator Jim DeMint To Lead The Effort To Protect Pastors!
Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina has agreed to lead the effort to stop the hate crimes legislation from passing the U.S. Senate. The two bills are H.R. 1913 and S.909. Here is a portion of the letter to pastors and religious leaders from Sen. DeMint dated June 17, 2009.
“Under this legislation, a pastor who teaches that homosexuality is wrong could be accused of a hate crime or charged with ‘inducing’ a violent crime against a gay person.”

Congressmen Gohmert and King Speak Out Against Hate Crimes Legislation Too!
U.S. Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas has noted that hate crime laws could be used to silence pastors who may preach against homosexuality.
According to U.S. Congressman Steve King of Iowa, “This legislation could also restrict free speech and eventually lead to criminal prosecution of religious leaders or members of religious groups based on their speech or other protected activities.”
Don’t Be Fooled By The Supporters!
Supporters of hate crimes legislation will say that the legislation does not affect pastors, freedom of speech or freedom of religion. That Is Simply Not True!
There is no absolute protection in the bill to stop a criminal investigation and prosecution of a pastor that preaches what the Bible says about homosexuality, pedophiles or cross-dressers!
Congressman King has stated: “Don’t believe what they (the supporters) say; read the bill. Think what happens. What’s their agenda? Their agenda is to shut down preaching of faith from the pulpit. Their agenda is to force public approval of the homosexual agenda. And destroying marriage is the follow-up piece of this.”
