The people of Indiana know there are problems in Indiana with the property tax system. A recent poll commissioned by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce found that 56% of those who responded stated that the current property tax situation is a crisis. Another 34% said that the property tax situation is important. Only 2% said it was not an issue at all.
There numbers are not surprising to us at Advance America. As we travel the state conducting Property Tax Repeal Rallies (we’ve held 10!) we are finding a large contingent of individuals who want property taxes repealed.
What will the legislators do with this poll result? Will the senators and representatives realize that there are a lot of citizens who want action rather that rhetoric? The 2008 General Assembly will provide part of the answers!
