Senator Dennis Kruse along with Senator Jim Banks and Senator Jim Tomes are leading the effort in the State Senate to pass the Marriage Amendment. They are the sponsors of House Joint Resolution 6 (HJR 6).
Indiana must pass a Constitutional Amendment to protect marriage between one man and one woman and to stop same sex civil unions. HJR 6 would do that!
Amending the Constitution!
In order to amend the Indiana Constitution to protect marriage the Indiana House and Senate must pass HJR 6 in 2011 and again in either 2013 or 2014 and then the voters could vote in 2014 to approve the Marriage Amendment.
HJR 6 Has Passed the House!
HJR 6 passed the House of Representatives on February 15, 2011 by a vote of 70-26.
Hearing Set for HJR 6 in the Senate!
The Senate Judiciary Committee chaired by Senator Richard Bray has scheduled a hearing for HJR 6 for 9:00 am on Wednesday, March 16th in the Senate Chamber of the State House.
